The D2C Lab workflow in one page (Idea → Launched)
What you’ll learn
A simple, end‑to‑end view of how a product moves through D2C Lab—from a rough idea to a launched product.
The workflow (quick version)
Capture the idea → add a product idea (manual or from a URL)
Validate it → use checklists to confirm demand/competition and kill weak ideas early
Calculate profits → model unit economics until the numbers make sense
Add suppliers → store supplier contacts, quotes, and compare options
Execute in Kanban → track sourcing → production → shipping using a simple pipeline
Launch → mark the product as Launch Ready, then Launched once live
The workflow (step-by-step)
Step 1 — Capture (Master List)
Create a product idea and store the basics:
Name + image
Selling price
Product URL (if you have a reference)
Notes
Portfolio (brand/project)
Result: The idea exists in your Master List with a stage of Raw.
Step 2 — Validate (Validator)
Open the Validator card for that idea and go through the checklists.
As you start checking items, the stage moves to Validating.
If an idea fails validation, you can Kill it (this does not delete it). You can also revive it later.
Result: You either move forward with confidence, or you kill the idea early.
Step 3 — Profitability math (Calculator)
Open the Calculator card and fill in your costs and assumptions.
D2C Lab shows a live breakdown and updates your Net Profit back in the Master List.
When you’re happy with margins, you’ll be ready to move from Calculating to the next phase.
Result: You know the numbers before spending money on samples or inventory.
Step 4 — Suppliers (Suppliers)
Add suppliers and store everything in one place:
Company + contact details
Unit cost, MOQ, lead time, incoterms
Notes + documents/certificates links
Scoring (out of 5) and comparisons
You can mark a supplier as Winner (toggleable).
Result: Supplier decisions are documented and comparable.
Step 5 — Execution tracking (Kanban)
Kanban appears automatically as soon as a supplier contact exists for the product.
When the Kanban card is created, it starts in:
Sourcing
From there you drag the card across:
Sourcing → Sampling → Negotiating → Production → QC → Shipping → Launched
Dragging a card updates the product’s stage in the Master List (and moving backwards should revert the stage too).
Result: Everyone can see what’s happening and what’s next.
Step 6 — Launch Ready vs Launched
Launch Ready means everything is prepared and you’re ready to go live.
Launched means the product is live (and/or fully completed in your pipeline).
Note:
The “Ready for launch” button sets the stage to Launch Ready.
It does not automatically move the Kanban column.
Stages you’ll see in the app
D2C Lab uses one unified set of stages:
Raw, Validating, Calculating, Sourcing, Sampling, Negotiating, Production, QC, Shipping, Launch Ready, Launched, Killed.
Where to go next
Master List: fields, actions, stage pill
Validator: checklist sections + completion colors
Calculator: inputs + live breakdown + net profit sync
Suppliers: scoring, compare, winner
Kanban: columns and what each means
