Choosing a winner (trophy / winner toggle)
What you’ll learn
How the Winner feature works in the Suppliers tab, what it means, and how to use the trophy + toggle to make supplier decisions clear.
What “Winner” means
A Winner is the supplier you’re currently choosing as your preferred option for this product.
It helps you:
make the decision visible to your team,
avoid confusion when multiple suppliers exist,
keep negotiations and next steps focused.
Important:
Selecting a winner is a decision tool — it does not lock anything permanently.
How to set a Winner
Go to Suppliers for the product
Find the supplier you want to choose
Click Set Winner (trophy)
Result:
the supplier card shows a trophy
the card gets a green border / winner styling
Winner is toggleable (select → deselect)
Winner selection is not permanent.
You can:
Select a winner
Deselect the same winner (without choosing another)
Use this when:
the quote changes,
lead time becomes unacceptable,
you want to reconsider before committing.
Can I have more than one winner?
No — the idea is to keep the decision clear.
When you select a new winner, the previous one should no longer be the winner.
Does Winner affect Kanban?
No.
A Kanban card is created as soon as a supplier contact exists for the product.
It does not require selecting a winner.
Winner is simply a decision marker.
Best practices
Don’t wait to choose a winner. Select one as soon as you have enough clarity.
Use Notes on the supplier card to record why they won.
Example: “Best balance of cost + lead time + communication.”If you’re unsure, use Compare (up to 3 suppliers) before deciding.
Troubleshooting
Winner styling isn’t showing
Refresh once.
Re-toggle winner off and on.
Confirm you’re not viewing a different product’s suppliers.
